History The first time that an online conference technology was used in substitution of a significant academic and professional face-to-face meeting was in Brazil. It was an initiative of Researchers from renowned Universities to facilitate relationships among those who share a common interest within such a huge dimension country. It started as a meeting in the field of Business Administration (www.convibra.com.br) several years ago, wherein people coming from different regions could easily meet together online. In this way a low cost interaction has been made possible. In 2008, the menace of an economic recession made several researches and universities cut travel and lodging expenses. It became a great impulse to the popularity of online meetings. Today, after several editions it has become a tradition in conferences calendars, attracting researchers from several countries. Its attractiveness used to come from the low cost, the democratic participation and the simplicity of use, but nowadays the most frequently cited aspect is related to the climate awareness. The reduction of flights that consequently reduces CO2 emissions. The same web-based platform which has been developed since the first meeting in 2004 is being used today by the World Institute for Research and Publication to help researchers around the world to create, develop and disseminate knowledge. The WIRP Annual meeting takes place online via VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol).
